E-mail Message This Week .. Grief and Humility

Be Sure To Click on Highlighted  Words for More Information

The purpose of this e-mail is to share with you how people cope with grief. Many of you reading this may have lost a loved one, know someone that had or find it difficult to cope yourself. Grief is personal and if bottled up emotional and physical wellness will surely take its toll.

As a chiropractor, attempting to connect mind and body, I often discuss a patient's life journey, their Circle of Life. Patients often confide in me and I humbly listen providing my opinion or direct them to a resource that will better assist.  Yesterday, I was moved by a friend, an author, who spoke to a group about her recent book, her personal loss and grief and how she coped. Below is my thoughts and I hope you can appreciate her message and why I share it with you .. Sharing is Caring

If you are editing and sending this information to your patients and community, be sure to search for local grief and loss centers. Besides taking care of a patient's spinal issues, we often are a resource for them and we should have the ready access they need, especially if you send an e-mail such as the one below.

Grief and Humility

A recent book club had an author Zoe Fishman share her thoughts about her sixth book The Fun Widow's Book Tour. The book concerns her grief and how she coped with the sudden loss of her husband Ronen, the father of their two very young boys. While writing this book, Zoe also lost her father an emotional burden for sure.

She discussed her book and her rationale writing it finding solace and closure being unable to express her final words with Ronen, fulfill their collective dreams or raise their sons and spoil their grandchildren.

The book took two years before publication hoping throughout the process that her words would help others cope with their grief and provide a window to move on with their memories sharing the best of them. It is a retelling of her experience and allows her sons to always feel their father's love and warmth.

I am using my weekly e-mail to promote her book as well as ask everyone to take a step back, squeeze every moment and not squelch your expression of appreciation for those you hold dear as well as those you meet and greet everyday. We live in a turbulent world, stressed to the gills and without a collective hug how will we cope. It is so much better with a thank you.

Life can change on a dime so make every moment precious. For months I have been writing my weekly email expressing hope with a positive slant on life. Our body is a temple and should be considered sacred. How well you care for your temple will outline your future.

It is a true calling for Zoe to share her grief and how she coped with others that may have been through her ordeal. She mentioned during her discussion that she wished she had read her book after her tragic loss; it would have made her recovery journey much easier.

If you belong to a grief group or know some venue she can speak to about her book and her experience in the metro Atlanta area, please contact her at: zoe.shacham@gmail.com If you are reading this in another state or country, you can also reach out to her if someone you know has a podcast looking for a guest or a possible newspaper article etc. The topic is very important to more people than you know
