E-mail Message This Week .. Reflection
One of my first writing assignments in college English was to write my obituary. It had to be only a few concise sentences while encompassing an entire life. Where do I delete and where can I embellish with enough to interest and stimulate others about me. It felt like I was writing my biography on a match book cover. Luckily, I was younger then and the chapters were less full, but if I had to write it now, the dilemmas would be the same.
As a chiropractor, did you achieve your professional dreams and goals while managing to change the lives of others? Did you reach the goals of your patients and manage your practice correctly so no one was left behind? Did you spend wisely to incorporate choices in education and equipment so patients would receive the best care? Were you open enough to look beyond your nose and reach for more? Did you do so ethically, honestly and with deep conviction and wisdom? Was there enough time to meet and greet community and corporate advocates teaching and screening for structural stress and cajoling their employees to value health and wellness and think ergonomically? So, what would be written on your matchbook cover?
Consider less what you don’t have and dwell more on what you have and be thankful for it. As chiropractors, we have the ability to turn a life around, reach many through a few and literally help the Shepard tend to their flock. I believe this and am relentless in reaching others as I do each week reaching you. I hope I’ve stimulated at least one good doctor to be great.
Reflection is good and a check and recheck of your existence is always in order. Can you reflect well on your professional activities reducing all stops towards forward movement. Be thankful for staff and patients and those that allow you the privilege to reach and teach, we are nothing without people to touch.
Above all, look kindly and lovingly to family and friends as they carry us along during this journey of life.
Have a Great and Bountiful Day
