E-mail message this week .. Our Uniqueness
Think about it. Every person has a specific spark that ignites their day and makes them tick. Some refine their abilities with education while others are attuned innately. It is this strand of DNA we must capture to enhance our abilities to reach them with our story of Life and Health through Chiropractic. Folks, there is a battle out there, a battle of hearts and minds. A battle brewing between the commercial world of pharmacy, the food industry and nature as we perceive it. There is something for everything packaged in pills, potions and lotions as products to soothe or fix. There are chemically enhanced and irradiated foods tasty but slowly toxic once ingested. Impurities imbedded in our air, water and food making it a toxic world within and without. We worry about covid-19 and co-morbidities such as obesity, diabetes, autoimmune syndromes, cancers, cardiovascular diseases and other dreaded impairments that often are the byproduct of lifestyle. It is said that ill health is not a matter of bad luck but bad choices .. and there are many.
Salvation for our poor soul rest in our innate ability to adapt and heal. Leaving it to our conscious mind would be fatal only to worsen as more poor choices are continually made. If it were just a matter of food combination, we could overcome and compensate. If it were just a matter of deciding between one chemically enhanced ingredient, we could decide wiser but it has a lot to do where manufactured, quality or lack of control and shipment and preservation compromises. So where do we chiropractors fit in?
Now the hard part, first, doctor, heal thyself. Come on, when was the last time you were on a specific schedule of regular adjustments? Hey, talk to the DC around the corner, we really need each other. When was the last time you reviewed your own eating habits, toned down at a gym, detoxed your own system and spread the good news by relaxing, chilling and finding quality time with family, friends and being there for others? If you are into nutrition are the bottles you recommend just a source of income, if yes, don’t be surprised if income starts to dwindle, you too have to buy into the programs you recommend as well.
Now, the hard part is also the easy part. You must create an office policy surrounding your office mission to reach your community with the message of chiropractic. We all have a similar message. The key is to believe and perform with touch and tell. Discuss the anatomical purpose of the spine and the neurological components it protects. Discuss progressive structural and supportive soft tissue wear and tear as we age and the potential of injury throughout the cycle of life whether from work, sports, trauma or just bad luck. Review proper mechanics of spinal hygiene including exercise, weight management, ergonomics and prophylactic supports such as pillows, lumbar cushions and so much more. Stress the importance of family care from cradle to grave and our role to preserve the integrity of the human frame and not keep it a secret. There is so much we can do making a difference in those we meet.
Our Profession is Unique, Even More With a Clear Message
