What I learned in my retirement, just a few weeks ago, was it either will be like Groundhog Day, each day the same, or it will be a new and exciting adventure each day. Sadly, I still have not created an intellectual path for me but I am working on it.

How many of you in the Atlanta metro area would benefit from a lunch with an attorney or medical specialist? How about meeting fellow chiropractors who specialize in a technique you do not utilize or have a gift with therapies that you would refer chronic patients to if you were aware of their skills. How about meeting fellow doctors who have a knack with nutrition meeting their vendor companies would that not stimulate an extra office service and increased income. There is no limit to the networking we sorely need but have no time to create. Keep reading

I had lunch yesterday with a colleague who is well known in the Atlanta area, Steve Barnett, DC who has created a vast network of chiropractors, attorneys, medical specialists, medical device vendors and established himself as the chiropractic community liaison with several hospitals, recently the Veteran’s Administration and medical clinics. If that was not enough, he is an expert witness for the defense and a life care planer for personal injury cases. I guess his plate is full and this was all done after his retirement. Some inspiration for us.

If you were in the know, you met Steve and possibly attended many of his coordinated chiro/medical/attorney/vendor dinners or events where the check was picked up by either a medical clinic or a device vendor. A great way to meet and greet. But, most important a resource for referrals and face to face interaction that overcame the turf wars in the past.

My first Barnett meeting was in a neurosurgeon’s office where about 10-15 chiropractors met and the surgeon expressed his appreciation of chiropractic, explained his conservative approach to spinal surgery and open my eyes to the world I was hostile to but had no an ally I can refer to if needed. I am sure this surgeon profited from his hour or so we spent in his office. This was followed with pain management physicians and imaging centers inviting chiropractors either into their office or inviting us for dinner just to meet and greet. I am appreciative of Steve's work and the outlet it provided our patients who needed a fracture tended to, an MRI that was handled quickly with his assistance, a pain management specialist for the chronic patient needing an epidural or a resource for a medical specialist or an attorney that would not screw us at the end, Steve was and still is the go to know. He can be reached at buckey404@aol.com

So, where does that leave me. Okay, if he can do it, I can as well.

So, what else do I have to do other than use my brain to good use.

If you are open to this meet and greet idea, please reply to me: joel3639@aol.com with your name, office information and I will add you to the list and I will get in touch. I realize it may take a few weeks to see interest, contact the interested physicians and go from there. I will send a few more weekly e-mails to stimulate interest as well as provide sound marketing and office growth ideas

If you work outside of the Atlanta area or overseas in the many countries these e-mails reach, reply back with your questions to Dr. Barnett: buckey404@aol.com or to me joel3639@aol.com no reason you couldn’t do the same as well

Below is a Chiropractic Christmas Poem that you may wish to send to patients.

Have a Great Day and  Merry Christmas and Happy, Health and Prosperous New Year

Chiropractic Christmas 2023

T’was the day before Christmas,

but there was no cheer.

No jingle bells jingled, no sound of reindeer.

Word got out that Santa was hurting.

There’d be no friendly visit from jolly St. Nick.

People were sad; no gaiety sounded.

For Christmas had come,

but Santa was grounded.

He walked down the street,

but what should he see

On a small sign was printed, Joel Margolies, D.C.

Now Santa was not one to like a new tactic,

But all else had failed, so he’d try Chiropractic.

He entered the office and saw at a glance

In place such as this pain and illness had no chance.

For all were smiling; the music was snappy.

With all the patients contented and happy.

In a very short time, to judge by the clock.

He was in the adjusting room, talking to Doc.

"It must be the hurry, the tension and all.

I simply can’t seem to get on the ball.

"And Doc, take a look at the size of this pack!"

"Have you any idea what it does to my back?"

Poor Santa was miserable, just barely able

With the help of Dr. Margolies to get to the table.

Doctor Joel was gentle.  Without fuss or tussle

She examined the vertebrae and relaxed the muscle.

She spotted the trouble, and then with a click,

Started aligning the ailing St. Nick.

And Santa felt aches and pains slipping away.

In no time at all his back and hips began to sway.

The air was a tingle with a new fallen snow,

And a healthy Kris Kringle was rarin’ to go.

As he went out the door, he threw all a kiss

Why, it has been centuries since he’d felt as good as this!

Then once more he shouldered the bagful of toys,

His heart overflowing with true Christmas joys,
