It’s great to scan through Facebook and see many successful chiropractic offices with multiple doctors, fantastic dedicated staff and a fully equipped office with various adjunctive therapies, nutritional and rehabilitative procedures. Considering that the medical world is struggling with consolidation and lowered insurance payments and, from what I hear, many docs retiring earlier than expected, people are looking for alternative healthcare and chiropractic is leading the way

Doctor, why not jump on the bandwagon and reach out to your community with the chiropractic story, your chiropractic story and the stories told by your educated patients. Every vehicle driving by, every vendor crossing your office threshold, every person close to you while walking in the mall, sitting besides you at church, sweating while at the gym and those you know and those not, they all need chiropractic care, your care. Marketing your office is boost to patient volume. Have you been asking your patients for referrals?

If not on social media get on it. Social media is a free avenue to market yourself and with a dedicated staff member given the role of communications director to add office information and topical health oriented subjects on a regular basis. Collect patient e-mail addresses and be sure to send regular newsletters (copy what I send you) and if they will provide their office e-mail contacts, such as HR or risk managers, send them specific ergonomic data regularly and be surprised how they will begin referring to you.

Don’t neglect your local attorneys. Call them and create a database of e-mails and websites and be sure to include their paralegals that often make the referrals and send them timely newsletters and better yet, use your office for a Soft Tissue injury workshop geared to the attorney and their staff. If you need one, I have a fantastic Powerpoint presentation called the Attorney Workshop that I will download to you for $60. You can edit it at will. Just e-mail me at: joel3639@aol.com for instructions. So many things a successful doctor does to create and maintain their success. Also, reach out to your medical community. Oh, it may cost a bit to hire staff but it will be worth every penny.

Also, don’t be shy, ask your successful colleagues what their secret is. Professional success should never be a secret, Sharing is Caring. Reach out to our profession's seminar consultants or attend a Parker seminar or state association conference and be sure to join and participate within your state association and their local districts, they often provide mentoring.

As I have written many times, A little knowledge can explode into success if you implement some basic ideas. Begin by surveying your patients. Create a survey form asking your patients what their work is, where they work, how far from the office, is anyone within their office providing ergonomic and wellness classes, stress management classes and/or nutrition classes. Probably not, okay but now have a lead. Ask your patients if they belong to any social clubs, church groups that meet regularly and would welcome a guest speaker, that’s you. And be sure to question your patients what subjects would interest them and begin regular office workshops including a New Patient Class on a regular basis. I have a number of Powerpoint presentations that I used a number of times. Community workshops are great as well. Again, if your time is limited, hire someone or train a staff member. Need some advice reply back to me and we'll work it out.
