Your Legacy

I recently received an e-mail from an established chiropractor who has been instrumental educating his community as well as creating a foundation to assist other chiropractors to do the same.

As I have been writing throughout my weekly e-newsletters, a well educated patient is a compliant patient, a referring patient and a patient, like the bird dog patient, a person you can rely on to network with and lead others to your office.

Regardless of how you practice, the college you graduated from or your chiropractic philosophy, your lasting community legacy is the brand you created. So, how will it be carried forward when you decide to retire?

I remember my philosophy classes during the early years of Chiropractic College when my awareness was challenged from accepting Sickness and Disease as the norm to realizing there was a greater force and intelligence driving this machine called Man. I realized that what I was taught from elementary school to undergraduate college may have brought sense to the masses but little to those searching for answers.

Why would the body randomly deteriorate when it was meant to last? Why would the body be overcome with illness when it was meant to be well? What force separated the psyche from the soma enough to break the bonds that hold us together? In fact, why would this body, grown from two half cells, germinate and blossom within leave all to chance on the day it makes a bow?

It made no sense. As with all nature’s bounty, the newborn is not left to chance. It has a host, a mother and father and a connection with family that along with natural nurturing and love blooms and grows.

My mindset transformed during these early years challenging my belief that relief was found in a pill and that the medical doctor’s word was indisputable. Like my military boot camp, the first year of chiropractic college ground down my individualist beliefs toward wholistic one. It gave me the ammunition to question the proverbial box for those seeking another answer.

I began to appreciate the relationship between structure and function and how every visceral part was attuned to the whole and our dear and delicate nervous system was the power and intelligence putting it together. Nature knew what needed to be done and all without a book, a Ted Talk lecture or iPad, it knew how to sustain life. It just needs nourishment, cuddling and support with no interference to make things right. How many of these basic ingredients do we lack as we grow as most of us have been techno manipulated, compromised and willfully became dangerous.

We Have a Role In Every Cycle of Life

Those of us that take philosophy of life and health in a serious vein know we approach our patients with this in mind and educate them to the ramification of their subluxation complex. Those of us looking upon our professional responsibilities as a structural science, where posture and tone play a crucial part in wellbeing also appreciate the impingement of life force via structural distress. Whether we mix, blend or play it straight our approach to patient and community wellness starts with spinal health. It is here where the network of energy generates and where protection of life’s fibers extends to the whole.

Nutrition is no longer left to chance, help them through the quagmire of misinformation and poor choices. Exercise and ergonomic health should be discussed with the understanding that life with no movement is compromised life and spinal segmental health is crucial to the whole. Review the wear and tear of daily living and approach each cycle of life with conservative alternatives to their grind at work, play and home.

Begin to educate and demonstrate. Create presentations or purchase commercial ones. They are often expensive and with little merit. Check my editable Powerpoint presentations, they are cheap and proven during many of my own ergonomic, community and patient lectures. They are $60 each with many titles available for immediate download. Reply with a topic and I will reply back
