Your Digestive System

Today I am highlighting another system of the body all controlled and coordinated by the nervous system. Without proper nutrition our body cannot create healthy cells, maintain proper body function and sustain a well functioning immune system. Click here to learn about the Gut-Brain Axix

Your digestive system plays a huge role in your immune health. Besides digestion, absorption and elimination of foods, your digestive system holds a huge key to overall health. How many of you reading this have chronic digestive issues, I guess most. Besides attempting to maintain best digestive health with lifestyle decisions such as diet, food choices, exercise for digestion wellness, 70% of your immune system is in your gut. Know more about the Microbiome and your gut

The esophagus is a relatively straight muscular tube through which food passes from the pharynx to the stomach. The esophagus can contract or expand to allow for the passage of food. Anatomically, it lies behind the trachea and heart and in front of the spinal column; it passes through the muscular diaphragm before entering the stomach. Both ends of the esophagus are closed off by muscular constrictions known as sphincters.

My personal journey towards a chiropractic career began due to my chronic digestive issues that bothered me since childhood with healing only with chiropractic care. I too was skeptical and had no prior experience of a chiropractor, but when someone explained the relationship between the spine and body function, specifically the celiac plexus of nerves that exit the spine and works the digestive system, I gave it a try. Years of medical care held everything at bay, but when I began my adjustments, I allowed my body to reduce the nerve pressure, the cause, and with dietary changes, my life changed in many directions.

It's a bit of a stretch to consider chiropractic care along with proper nutrition and often with the assistance of supplements, that digestive issues can be handled. But, as I have written above, it does and many of my patients through my 48 years of practice have experienced it as well.

For health related issues, chiropractic is not medicine. There often is no immediate short term change to functional (health related) issues, unlike drugs that often do their magic. But with scheduled chiropractic care and reduction to the specific structural interference to the spinal nerves involved, over a short period of time and with the help of specific nutritional support, the results are often positive. It sure solved my chronic digestive issue as well as my choosing a new professional path as your chiropractor. It takes time to heal but there is no better time than now.

Function of Saliva Function of peristalsis How The Teeth Helps Digestion Signs of Digestive Enzyme Deficiencies

The mouth: Digestion begins even before we taste food. When we see, smell, taste, or even imagine a tasty meal, our salivary glands (located in front of the ears, under the tongue, and near the lower jaw) begin making saliva.

The esophagus: Food travels down a muscular tube in the chest called the esophagus. Waves of muscle contractions called peristalsis, force food down through the esophagus to the stomach. A person usually isn't aware of the muscle movements that push food through the digestive tract.

The stomach: At the end of the esophagus is a muscular ring or valve called a sphincter. The sphincter lets food enter the stomach, then squeezes shut to keep food and liquids from flowing back up into the esophagus. The stomach muscles churn and mix the food with digestive juices that have acids and enzymes. These juices help break up food into much smaller pieces

POSTING
Practice for Sale in Philadelphia, PA:
Retiring chiropractor is selling his fully equipped office with an established patient base. Reply to: torresdale6808@outlook.com (7 exam rooms approximately 1800 sq ft) is available for transition to a new doctor. It’s a turnkey setup with immediate patient flow and low overhead, that will dramatically reduce the practice start-up costs. My planned retirement will be the Summer of 2026. There are several options open that include but not limited to office space rental only, building sale or a lease purchase. The building sale would also include two (2) sources of passive income. There is a warehouse (~2000 ft2) in the rear that is currently rented to a contractor for his business and a three (3) bedroom second floor apartment (~1350 ft2) that is currently rented to a long-term tenant. The LoopNet link below has information about the practice. If including in the newsletter is possible, I would greatly appreciate it. If you need any additional information, please let me know. Thanks again. Click here for description
