E-mail message this week .. Bigger Things
As we exit this crazy pandemic with less restrictions and more availability to reach patients and our community, our public relations and marketing antenna must be honed and ready to rock. As mentioned in previous e-mails, rather than looking for new patients be sure you are keeping those you have, harvest their enthusiasm to network and have that ready and steady stream of referrals. Besides live bodies to work with, there are other ways to reach success both financial and spiritually. So, let’s look into the smaller things that culminate into Bigger Things
These are the often overlooked practice management procedures that when implemented mean the difference between success or not. These are the birthday cards, missed appointment and new patient phone calls, tickler file revisits and other mundane procedures that may seem to bog you down when really, they boost you up. A larger practice with more staff may find complacency a factor that often stagnates growth. Accountability between staff members with goals set and action steps implemented will propel the practice higher only if the smaller things are woven within the matrix of practice management. In our rich social digital world it is easier to reach people and the people they know but only if you have an active calendar with dedicated staff accountable that it is being done also it must be rich in content. This takes time and usually requires a dedicated staff member or an outside vendor to make it happen. Again, these may seem like a small thing but it reaps much bigger rewards.
Now, some of the bigger things such as diagnostic tests, consultation skills, patient and community educational programs and pure unadulterated service with compassion and a smile.
One of the my many Powerpoint presentations for chiropractors is titled: Looking for Hidden Income. Patients are already in your office so take advantage by looking within every room for ways to stimulate a referral, increase volume and income, ease the flow of patients, prevent dropouts and missed appointments all while increasing service procedures and create an alliance that bonds you, your staff with your patients and community. In staff meeting discuss the role of each staff member and focus on how best they can communicate the purpose of their procedures along with how it can help others while weaving in conversations for referrals. These are the programs that keep your practice solvent and bullet proof. If you want a copy of my Hidden Income presentation, lots of great slides, e-mail me: joel3639@aol.com It is yours for a $30 donation to my community orchestra: www.dekalbsymphony.org Donate and let me know and I will download the program to you. It is worth every syllable.
Financial responsibilities and patient policies are also a big thing that protects your bottom line before you bottom out. Clear up any patient policy ambiguities including financial and scheduling. A committed patient is a compliant patient receiving the best care and results. They are more apt to refer and help you reach your goals. Ambiguity often leads to misunderstanding and a disgruntled patient not receiving the care they deserve and worse a negative influence. Clear this small thing so you can reach the Bigger picture
Don’t forget diagnostic testing. These services, if coded and utilized correctly, are an extension of your bottom line. Laziness costs and improper and unused equipment is a waste. Patient awareness is as important as treatment and patient knowledge of their specific problem usually is shared with others that draws them to chiropractic and you. Patient awareness is a shareable item that may cost you time to provides great dividends.
So much to get into. If you have any questions, just ask. If I haven’t an answer, I will find someone that does. Sharing is caring
