Creating Community Alliances

Last week, I discussed creating professional alliances. If you desire to expand your patient base it is crucial to expand your network and to your community using the demographics of retail, clerical, residential and labor. Begin slowly by scheduling lunch and learns as well as Breakfast Bagel Classes in your office. Once patients and their guests pass your threshold, you can bet you just created a new patient. Residential: When looking for an office you try to find a location with action, easy to come and go, lots of parking and during morning and evenings it's safe and not off the beaten path. So, you wouldn't use a home within a subdivision or an apartment within a complex. But there may be thousands of potential patients that live there or close by and if you choose correctly using proper demographics, they, with proper marketing, can be your patients as well. The community has supermarkets (retail), libraries (health and wellness classes), gyms (provide wellness and stress classes), churches (lunch and learn wellness classes), shopping centers (posture screenings), fire and police (stress and wellness screenings and offer reduced fees), municipal buildings and the list goes on.   by the way I can help you with this .. check at the bottom of e-mail

The key is to reach out. A professional database base, both in print and digital, can be purchased with names of new and refinanced home buyers as well as a new business. Google search and check some out, it takes a lot less time acquiring names and numbers this way. Or use the on-line yellow pages or Google to find a church, social club, gym, library etc and create a database and when ready reach out offering a free wellness class, a lunch and learn, a stress management class or at the library review a wellness book and provide a book review in the conference room.  by the way I can help you with this .. check at the bottom of e-mail

Clerical: Personally, I found this my most effective marketing tool. Yes, you have to get out and present stress and ergonomic classes but if done correctly can expand your patient base tremendously. Without exaggeration, when I started with these classes I literally doubled my practice within a few weeks as attendees followed through with their complimentary evaluations. 

Let's look at why clerical stands out as a marketing tool:

OSHA and CDC monitor work injuries and their statistics reveal that one major cause of work injuries, worker's compensation claims and employee downtime is Repetitive Stress  Injuries.  We know that carpal tunnel syndrome, chronic neck and shoulder pain, cervicobrachial syndrome with radicular consequences often are result of clerical work. So, share it with your patients that work under these conditions and the community at large. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that once awareness and solutions are available, the wise amongst us will consider change and possible therapeutic care .. chiropractic. This applies also to gamers, people using their wrist for work or play and others, they are out there, just find them. Create monthly in-office workshops using Powerpoint or other methods of expression.

Demographics: You have a limitless pool of potential new patients to draw upon called demographics: Retail, Clerical, Residential and Labor. Pull out a map and using a protractor draw a five - ten mile radius around your office. A dense urban location can be less while a rural location may be a bit more. This is your draw area. Drive around and note locations and streets of the viable warehouses, office parks, courthouse for PI attorneys, municipal buildings, etc. This can be done even remotely with much time and effort but once an established database is complete it will be used as a marketing resource whenever you need to bring the genie out of the box. 

I can go on and on but simply put, there is no limit to new patients just a limit to your desire to get them. There is no limit to a successful referral based practice just a limit to your ability to tell the chiropractic story, make it happen and sustain it. There also is no limit to having a fun time while creating an income, helping others and providing for your staff, no just a limit to your vision and goals. Interested In Assistance Making All This Happen

As a recently retired veteran of 45 years in our honored chiropractic profession, I have either seen it all, heard it all or just forgot to look or listen. There is so much you can squeeze out of a lemon to make delicious lemonade.

It is not my intention to burden any doctor with more bills without some successful outcome and that would be increased activity of active and inactive patient flow, new patients and community alliances. It takes time, energy and a dedicated staff member or yourself to plant the seeds and nurture their growth. This is what I am attempting to create for you and your office.
