Chiropractors have incredible support teams just catering to us. If your e-mail and periodical advertising is anything like mine, you view multiple advertisements for various seminars, practice management firms, webpage creators and multiple diagnostics and adjusting products helping you advance your skills. Granted covid put a damper on live seminars and consulting but there are active seminars such as Parker as well as a number of state conventions etc.
The mantra is simple, if you are vulnerable and feel downtrodden due to less patient visits, decreased reimbursements and slings and arrows of various misfortunes, don’t be forlorn for long as help is just a credit card away.
We all fall prey to the same emotional impulse purchasing or snapping at a product because of its slick production. When I taught at LUCC from 1995-1999, a class dedicated to starting a new practice, I told students that vendors at conventions are geared to make a sale, and rightly so, but we must be wary of the actual need prior to being induced and signing their bottom line.
With an unpredictable economic climate and covid tentacles looming in one guise or other, your goal is to get out of debt and if you must loan to grow, resolve to make every payment and more. If you attend seminars or hire a coach, follow closely their lead don’t waste time and money. Crack a strong but just whip for staff compliance and teamwork. Ask no less from every member of your team, as they are literally the backbone of your success or failure. They mirror your lead and if your office is rudder and leaderless it’ll show soon enough with patient slippage, increased internal stress and mundanity settling in like quicksand.
Doctor take the next few days before the New Year to reorganize, regroup, recharge and recreate the excitement you had when you first opened your office. Today you have some history, an honest knowledge of what went well and what went wrong. If you were your own consultant, where would you make changes, what areas would you tweak or remove and who needs a kick in the pants or a kick out the door, including you.
Right or wrong, the one person responsible for success or failure is you. Look in the mirror and like Snow White repeat the words: Mirror, mirror on the wall who am I, what do I need to do and who can I depend on to get me there. As you stare intently at yourself remember that it is only you, you see, and there my friends, is your answer. What have you become, are you a mentor to many, a healer to more and a loving soul that attracts others to your office?
What needs to be done is to acquire and implement sound and cost effective ideas. You can depend on others to follow your lead when you set a clear and reasonable path for yourself.
Doctor this is the time to pre-resolve your New Years Resolutions
