E-mail message this week .. Time to Get Busy

Numbers are declining and State and Federal mandates and restrictions are slowly being lifted, so it’s time we begin to open up and start promoting, we need to begin or renew the pursuit of marketing. If we wish to build a strong sustaining practice, we need a flow of new patients and a smart way to keep them. I am partial to workshops, classes both for new patients and the community. So many topics to choose from and Powerpoint presentations that I’ve created. My colleague around the corner has a successful practice because he takes time and is committed to have every new patient being educated to his purpose and his goal for them. He has a waiting room full of potential patients while he talks and expresses the need for spinal care, rehabilitative procedures and the need for patient compliance. We all heard this before, an educated patient understands the value of care, finds the funds to make it happen and best tells others.

A well oiled practice with the doctor as the helmsman steers the staff towards patient awareness and their need to follow through. Scripted or not, the patient is part of the success and will follow the guidelines you promote: follow their treatment schedule, do their rehabilitative homework, be aware of ergonomics at work and home, keep up with their nutritional program and tell others the chiropractic story.

If you intend on educating the masses then providing face to face workshops and screenings are the way to go. If your purpose is to both educate and provide an outlet to be evaluated, then you are far closer to your goal. Education is fine and dandy but getting them evaluated and into your office for eventual chiropractic care is the ticket and should be the ultimate goal.

I hope you are one of many that provide workshops for patients and the community. Maybe I should take that back, I hope you are one of the few that do. Too many of us neglect this important component of success. Come on, even if the cat got your tongue, patient education is practice management 101 and community education is public relations and marketing 102. The two go hand in hand and you best get off your duff if you are not providing either or both. There is no finer statement of truth than as a businessperson you are dedicated to succeed by assisting others in reaching their potential by reducing their aberrant physical behavior.

I also hope you are amongst the many that do a great service and get reimbursed handsomely for the work you do. I hope you have staff that work in tandem and create newness with each day. I hope you grow in purpose and always see the big picture amongst the forest and the trees. I hope you will befriend a colleague that needs a stronger purpose, a path to follow and a hand to clutch when the going gets tough. If you are amongst these fine individuals, I applaud you.

Open your office and mind and provide the guidance that every person within your community needs, an adjustment. Within staff meetings discuss those patients that have been missing since the pandemic, those that decided to be treated but dropped out and those that you feel have influence to introduce your office to others. Recall and activate these folks to return and tell. No time to dally, time now to create a game plan and working model that can be used month by month building a solid practice. This is the ultimate goal
