| From: Dr. Margolies.. 6-3-22 www.familychirocenter.net   Posting this Week: Practice for sale in Midtown NYC   Patients Are Like Plucking Fruit From a Tree   As chiropractors, a self-sustainable business professional, we have the ability to create as much success as we desire or as little if this is your druthers. Personally, I side with more rather than less as long as it was gathered honestly and ethically. Our role in the healthcare pie is obvious to us but not so within the general population. Our communities are full of potential patients just waiting to hear our message and participate in the wonders of chiropractic care. Therefore, the DC that is able to capture these folks and bring them on board honestly and ethically wins the prize. Is there anyone reading this message that doesn’t agree? The problem lies on how to approach meeting these people and bring them along for the chiropractic ride.   Way back when, as a student at Life College, we had to hustle up patients for our student clinic. Some students used various methods to attract a small cadre of people while others relied upon established patients provided by graduating interns. I chose to seize every opportunity to share my chiropractic experience by telling the story of health and wellness with chiropractic care. One day, prior to leaving the Marietta police station to be fingerprinted, a requirement for waiters serving liquor in a restaurant, I asked the desk clerk if there was a police academy. Lo and behold there was and after meeting the officer in charge, I scheduled a number of stress management classes for their recruits. During my class, I discussed biomechanical stress and emphasized chiropractic care as a solution to their physical stress allowing them the opportunity to be checked and treated at the nearby chiropractic college clinic. After the class, I handed out a sign up sheet and asked everyone interested in a chiropractic evaluation to jot down his or her contact information. So many responded to this one talk that I was giving new patients away. This was followed by more talks in other venues throughout town. There were no limits to new patients and success, just a limit to your vision and ability to see it through. I mentioned to a fellow student that a new patient was like plucking fruit from a tree. It remains so today.   You may argue that your location is resistant to new ideas but as a business planning your success should have started prior to opening your doors, it should have begun with a careful demographic review of the location and the potential to attract business, in our case, patients, where they live, work, pray and socialize. I suspect that no matter where you are located, some components of these are available.   So start today by evaluating how your practice has grown .. or not. Review the weak areas of patient recruitment and weakness within your practice management. Review those accountable such as staff and determine if they are literally well trained or just wing it day by day. There is so much to consider concerning practice and staff management that hiring a coach are often the only way to make a breakthrough. I recommend you spend time in reflection and if you have questions, please e-mail them to me so we can work it out .. it’s free   Think of your practice as a farm, cultivate the soil, plant your seed, fertilize and water then pluck the fruit from your labors.
