Buy or Not To Buy  .. That Is The Question

As many of you know, I am in the process of retiring and have my great Atlanta turn key office for sale. You wonder with all the turmoil in the world, it would be great to find one area of solace, a practice that has been nurtured and cared for like a loving child watching it grow to adulthood and evolve into the golden year’s without missing a beat and as young as ever.

As many of you veteran doctors know it is not easy, especially with patient, practice and staff management a juggling act. Keeping sanity within an insane environment is what makes or breaks success. So, if I was out to acquire a practice this is what I would be after, a flourishing office with lots of room to grow in the hands of a wise steward with mentoring along the way. Buy or Not to Buy .. BUY without reservation

Ok, buy what. We all know of flourishing practices with an active marketing team, a cadre of staff and often with associate doctors with revenue at a premium, office statistics sterling and a spreadsheet of monthly success supreme, looks great on the surface but with a costly overhead, expenses also at a premium the take home pay may not be as impressive. You know what I am writing about, financial sanity is as much a necessity as impulsive hustling to make ends meet. Buy or Not to Buy ..

So, doctor, if you are in the market to purchase a practice, look below the surface for the infrastructure, the guts that make it work, a solid caring and knowledgeable staff, satisfied patients coming because they understand the importance of an adjustment, willingly telling others and a clear path towards growth like a spigot, turned on and off at will. Also, genuine reviews from social media not written by patients as incentives.

As I look out at the economic funk we are presently in with recession possibly around the corner and I was in the market to purchase a practice, I would look for stability, room to grow and a firm foundation that only a massive earthquake could squash. I would look for a location that is growing, has the matrix to market without overwhelming expense and stability that has weathered over time.
