E-mail message this week .. So You Think You Can Be Successful

As an avid fan of the TV show, So You Think You Can Dance, I’m amazed how the remaining dancers continue to perform so well. Notwithstanding their weekly emotional stress and physical pain, they still manage to perform even better each week. Toward the end of the season with just a week remaining before choosing the winning dancer, with everyone being so terrific, no one deserves to lose.

These young dancers enjoy the dance and the challenge. They work the angles and fight through pain and with the assistance of choreographers and their dance partners they meet their goal to perform their best. If they choose to slack off, they risk fading away. The stakes are very high for themselves and their dance partners.

When was the last time you came to the office Monday morning, laid out a game plan with action steps for a successful week, played the right angles for new, referral and a plan to reactivate former patients and even with the pain of piercing through some personal comfort zones achieved your goals? How about your extended team, are they educated enough to support your goals or worse, are they unaware of them and their role to reach and surpass them? I’m talking about staff and even special patients who help you grow. The stakes are doubly high for we chiropractors. Not only will our revenue stream trickle rather than pour when we are negligent to maintain positive growth momentum but we fail to assist our community with increased physical performance and wellness.

Our staff continually need education and encouragement or they may hold us back. Too often doctors are held hostage by their staff and afraid to bid them adieu. Rather than showing them the door, look first in the mirror; who you see is where the problem originates. We usually train staff poorly, especially with practice goals, action steps and accountability. Years ago, I presented many practice management classes one was titled Rungs up the Ladder of Success. It was meant to stimulate thoughts of success which is an unrelenting process and if not careful unforgiving. The same ladder that helped you reach the top also helps you on the way down.

So, you think you can be successful, it just takes hard work and persistence. Now get going

Note: If you wish a free copy of my Rungs up the Ladder of Success Powerpoint presentation, just reply back and I will upload it to you. After reviewing it, have a staff meeting and present it to them with a group discussion. If you want the presentation, be sure to include your office information as mine is below for my referral list.

Have a Great Day
