 E-mail message this week .. You Too Can Do It

A few months ago, I was helping a struggling DC with his practice routine and requested he e-mail me his goals and action plans for the following eight weeks. I requested a specific breakdown of why he feels he is struggling, staff interactions, previous promotions and why he feels they failed and what immediate changes he will implement with some community and office promotions along with creative ideas and staff accountability to get it done. I requested no pie in the sky ideas only reachable goals that would boost his self esteem rather than being too lofty and suppress them. Since these e-mails reach over 3000 chiropractors in 32 countries, you can imagine I receive occasional questions and concerns and I always provide my humble answers and they are always free. You know what you get for free .....

His first reply was a desperate attempt to quickly do something, which was not focused. Seizing his enthusiasm, I assisted a little with a simple blueprint. First, use the next holiday period, Thanksgiving, Christmas and the New Year to create some life within his office, community and start with a promotion to attract some referrals while offering an incentive for staff to help with a bonus. Second, begin educational workshops beginning with a Spinal Care Class then an Aging Gracefully Class as well as network with patients targeting their local workplaces for ergonomic programs such as Staying Fit While You Sit or Material Handling and Workplace Safety. In other words, increase enthusiasm, education, volume and services.

I asked him if he had increased office services to generate more income. He told me he had a dedicated room for rehabilitation which, since covid, has hardly been used. He also had an underutilized therapy staff member with limited knowledge and confidence in her work that sorely needed some encouragement and education to generate the positive patient feedback to increase his rehabilitative services and offer it to more patients. As far as supplements his funds prevented a huge inventory of vitamins and minerals but I connected him with Standard Process who opened his account with easy on-line utilization and timely regional classes.

His first workshop was my Aging Gracefully Powerpoint presentation which he purchased from me for a $60 donation to my orchestra, more at the conclusion of this e-mail. Ten patients and friends attended a senior Bagel Lunch and Learn one hour class. He followed this with an evening Spinal Care Class and planned a Stress Management class at a patient’s office next week. He purchased a screen and projector as well as other topical workshops.

The morale of the story is that You Can Do It Too and do it every time you put your mind to it. With a little prodding and just a small investment in money and time you can turn your office statistics around. If you need some help, just e-mail and we'll work it out together.
