  E-mail Message  .. Thanksgiving

Most will receive this e-mail a day after the holiday and hopefully enjoyed a belly full of Turkey and dressing and all the rest that makes this holiday so special. I’m not going to dwell on how thankful we should be to have the opportunity helping people perform at a higher and usually pain free level or even consider how thankful for the gift that keeps giving and a profession that gives more than it receives, chiropractic.

During the year two of new patients reminded me how thankful I am for my first adjustment, which was way back in 1972. These two folks, one of hundreds through the years, received dramatic results after just one adjustment. I wish all patients had similar experiences, but these two in particular reminded me that once the energy was released, the pressure reduced, paraspinal instability again stable the body will do the rest.

One was a woman with chronic neck and upper back pain as well as radicular pain down her arm. Her daily activities were impaired and sleep was an ordeal with each toss and turn. She was a great patient for a cadre of medical specialists from orthopedists, massage therapists, physical therapists and neurologists as well as radiologists with and number of Cat and Dog scans to boot. While I was adjusting her, her range of motion literally freed and she cried with joy returning the following day after a full eight hour sleep, her first in months. Her neck mobility was much improved and without acute pain. She thanked me by telling two friends and I thanked her for allowing me to share her good fortune.

If you have been in practice for any length of time you expect and eventually become numb to tales such as this and accept small and larger miracles as just another day in the office. But, these patients and their immediate family and friends don’t take it for granted as their lives were touched as well. Thanks go all around.

The other patient was a typical lower back walk in. Her neighbor recommended our office after seeing her walk bent over and in obvious pain. She told me her PCP referred her to an orthopedist and without touching her, he recommended radical surgery even before ordering an MRI. The imaging date was not for another week and she needed relief now. As with the other patient, just one conservative chiropractic adjustment helped tremendously and provided reduced leg pain with increased mobility.

These people had never been to a chiropractor before and both wondered why no one told them earlier. How thankless is that and who’s fault was it.

Do you think there is a lack of an educated community

My personal chiropractic experience was very similar. Rather than a medical statistic, I looked outside the box for answers and relief after years of suffering with digestive issues. My social activities and emotional bearing were all impaired due to chronic symptoms. My first adjustment, after a suggestion of a friend, not only turned the tide in my favor but also began a journey culminating to where I am today and you reading these e-mails every week.

I am greatly thankful to the forgotten person who recommended my first chiropractor, Dr. David Singer, who turned the power back on. It changed my life forever.

I thank you for taking time reading my thoughts and using this weekly forum as a means to reach others. Please tell other chiropractors about these e-mail newsletters and let contact me: joel3639@aol.com to subscribe or e-mail me their e-mail address. Of course, forward them along.

If you wish to thank me, I recommend you send a tax-deductible contribution to my orchestra at: www.dekalbsymphony.org/donations and use the link Donate. $50+ would be great .. it helps greatly!!! We would be thankful for any contribution.

Thank You and Have a Healthy and Great Thanksgiving

This was my patient Thanksgiving E-mail Message

My Thanksgiving Message:

I am in my 47th year as a chiropractor and as you can imagine, I adjusted a lot of folks. The best gift I receive is meeting and greeting you, our Tucker neighbors and your family and friends. During this week, please look right and left and say Thank You to so many people who touch your life in even the most menial way. Watch how surprised they will be if you give them a holiday gift such as a smile, an appropriate hug and just saying Thank You. Family is family and they deserve your thanks for being there and try to give some extra love and attention to those that need it. You are our family and we Thank You

Thank also those that bolster your day such as fellow workers, church members and those participating in your everyday activities. So many are ignored or taken for granted. Don’t forget those handing you food in the fast food lane with a few dollars as a holiday tip, I’m sure they will be very surprised. Also take a few moments with a kind word to those that touch your heart, you know who they are.

I am thankful for Melanie, Donna, Dr. Suzanne and Aviva. We Thank You for your confidence in our work and the opportunity to help those you continue to refer to our office for their chiropractic and/or nutritional care.
