E-mail Message This Week .. Get Your Chiropractic Act Together

As we get ready for 2023 and new resolutions it may be time to reflect on 2022 and what shoulda coulda. Covid created hassles that some doctors still have not recovered from. Marketing within the community may have been stifled although we have learned to live with it and increased awareness of natural immunity have prompted folks to look within and chiropractic should be their primary avenue to gather neurological strength and with some nutritional advice your office can be the community beacon. So, here are some food for thought

We live in a very complicated chiropractic world. Most field doctors who have sent students to chiropractic college realize that in today’s environment, it is either going to be more difficult for their young upstart or it will be the best days of their lives. It often depends on how they spent their time in school, what resources they applied as students and clinicians and how much advice they both received and took from their field doctor or chiropractors they passed along the way.

The canvas of chiropractic is littered with doctors bobbing and weaving from one technique to another or patient acquisition tricks during weekend seminars all to maintain their practice. There is nothing wrong with this, in fact growth and sustenance of patient and practice management is commendable but the problem lies with the doctor with little idea where their practice is from day to day and month to month. They are like stock investors vulnerable to daily variances to sell when they should buy and buy when they should sell. They are like weekend fisherman stocking their boats with all the tools and paraphernalia to impress their guests only to chase the breeze rather than chum where the best of them do. We all know a doctor with the best equipment, incredible patient educational tools and an office to die for, only to find that once their overhead is paid the money left can only purchase a Big Mac or two.

Impress with tricks of the trade are all well and good, but down to earth patient and practice management protocols will both win the day and pad your pockets with the profits they deserve. Doctors who study the demographics and have a grasp on the pulse of their community focus on sound marketing principals and sounder practice management. They work in tandem with their staff and patients to maintain a healthy practice with referring and maintenance patients.

Doctors right out of college with enough brains to follow some advice and with only a few dimes to scratch together can make a go of it as they watch their practice bloom with each marketing and public relations win. They only have to follow in the footsteps of those before them, the ones that did well with will and wit and most importantly followed the advice of those before them while keeping their rebellious student mindset in check. There are many doctors with years etched in their belt that never let go of their stubbornness and never leapt to where they deserve to be. It’s a shame.

If you feel you are amongst this crowd, it’s never too late to let go and free the negative mindset for the possibilities before you. I recommend a time-out and time to reflect on where you are and where you wish to be. Be honest and as objective as possible, as if you were hovering above in an out of body experience. Where have you been reluctant to change, where has complacency and ego got in your way and what and who could help you make a change. Be honest and with every baby step this New Year 2023 it can be a year of abundance in both financial and spiritual profit.
