Big Things   A successful office includes many smaller components that make it great. These are the often overlooked practice management procedures that when implemented means the difference between success or not. These are the birthday cards, missed appointment and new patient phone calls, tickler file revisits and other mundane procedures that may seem to bog you down when they  actually will boost you up.   But, the bigger things that create a successful practice should also not be overlooked such as diagnostic tests, consultation skills, educational programs and pure unadulterated service with compassion and a smile.   One of the many Powerpoint classes I taught was called Looking for Hidden Income. I reviewed each room in an average office that may provide an opportunity to stimulate a referral, increase volume and income, increase flow of patients, stop dropouts and missed appointments, increase service procedures and form an alliance that bonds you with your patient and community. These are big things, the programs that keep your practice solvent and bullet proof against any financial or community wide downturn.   Financial responsibilities and policies are very big things that protect your bottom line before you bottom out. Too many of us leave out the money portion leaving to chance that you’ll get paid. This includes a business manager if you have a high volume practice and scripted and sound policy discussions with all new patients. Clear up any patient policy ambiguities including financial and scheduling.   A big thing are all patient, staff and doctor communications. A committed patient is a compliant patient receiving the best of care and results. They are more apt to refer and help you reach your goals. Losing a few patients here and there because you were strong in policy is okay and acceptable, rather than being too kind to let missed appointments and overextended credit get in the way of healing momentum. Here is where a clear understanding helps patients keep on track towards wellness. This is a big thing, communications, patient policies and practice management.   Don’t forget diagnostic testing. These services, if coded and utilized correctly, are an extension of your bottom line.  Laziness costs while improper and unused equipment is a waste and adds nothing to income. Patient awareness is as important as treatment. Their awareness and knowledge of chiropractic and your adjunctive services is often extended to their family and friends providing a stream of new patients.   These All Are a Big Thing      Postings: Practice for sale in metro Atlanta   Great opportunity to acquire a turn key long established practice in metro Atlanta with patients and staff ready to go.
