| This past week has been very difficult. As we venture from our homes, while sheltering in place, television was our savior, today, it is either too hard to watch or to turn off. Dialogue long in coming is here front and center and wherever you are on the political spectrum, you must pay attention. I have a diverse patient base and live in a diverse community. As a child in my Brooklyn neighborhood of Brownsville, it first looked and thought a lot like me but as I grew so did the neighborhood and so did my neighbors. It wasn’t much of a cultural shock for me as I relished the diversity and do so today. Tolerance of others as well as respect of difference was how my parents raised me and how I raised my kids and they theirs. There is no other way.    I hope that when the tumult that followed the death of George Floyd calms down the message and purpose will not. There is no need for injustice for anyone or fear to walk the streets because of color.    Not to compare grievances, but it was not long ago that practicing chiropractic was a crime and a number of our chiropractic warriors were jailed and kept adjusting behind bars. With grassroots campaigning and patient insistence word reached the capitol halls from state to state until laws and scopes of practice were written allowing access to insurance and increased acceptance by the public. Public outcries work.   Have a Safe and Purposeful Day   Dr. M |
