Marketing in 2024 .. Awareness = Success

Let’s start at the beginning.  Hopefully this is a reminder if not implemented already

Review your new patient intake forms and be sure there is an area for patient e-mail addresses. Snail mail sending paper newsletters or reminder cards is not only costly but outdated. A click on the computer keyboard takes just a millisecond and sends thousands of e-mails in as much time. But without an e-mail address it is a great concept with no value. So, be sure new and existing patient e-mails are available and kept and saved in a specific area to be retrieved as needed.

If you have not been collecting patient and community e-mails, start today. There is so much you can send to patients and folks within your community, without overwhelming them, from Health and Wellness concepts, invitations to your office and community workshops, holiday events, timely e-newsletters and so much more.

Next check your website. Obviously if you don’t have one start searching for a website vendor and secure your cloud space. Your website has to be user friendly and have on the opening page access to useful information foremost address, phone number, hours of operation and access to office particulars such as about the doctor(s) and staff and include pictures of the staff and office. Be sure a potential new patient can make an appointment and/or contact the office via e-mail with questions. You'll be surprised how many websites are not that user friendly making you search for contact information. Als0 have links for patient reviews with Google and Yelp.  Patient resource material should also be easily retrieved like stretching videos, health and wellness articles and spinal information for patients to share with others. New patient forms and links to community and health oriented websites would be helpful as well. The reduce clutter, these can be menu bar links with pull downs. If this is over your pay grade, your web host can assist you with this.

Okay, hopefully, everyone reading this has been gathering patient and community e-mail addresses as well as have an active website that is not just a placeholder in the cloud. So, take a moment to review what exists and what is needed to be amended or included. Time now to increase interest to your office, create awareness and lure in potential new patients and referrals with timely e-mails directing folks to your website which only enhances awareness and success. If this seems overwhelming and you feel your staff is stretched to their limits, the answer is to reduce redundancy and streamline staff responsibilities or invest in your success and hire a marketing assistant, a community liaison, that will reach out and bring in new and forgotten patients, create community networking, set up community programs which will expand your patient growth.

A great idea left on the vine will eventually rot unless introduced to others. Chiropractic is still a misunderstood concept and when known by those needing care, miraculously they will search for a chiropractor and it might as well be your office, even with lots of competition close by. A friendly and well referenced e-mail/newsletter sent on a timely basis to your patients as well as the community is the spark that creates the interest.

The game is being proactive and not wait for a draught to water your garden (practice). Growth stops when the seeds of success are not planted on time and no one is accountable for the nurturing and weeding. There is so much to consider and will it be cost and time effective? Miss or hit is better than doing nothing. I will go over a game plan in future e-mails but in the meantime, visualize your ladder towards success in 2024 by planning action steps to the top. 

During my 45 years of practice I tried it all. I hired a marketing person, spent hours all over Atlanta presenting ergonomic and health and wellness workshops, did weekly in-office classes, met and greeted folks at health fairs and postural screenings and some worked and some didn't. Again, the game is being in the game and refine as you play. It all served me well.

An Idea That May Help Us Both

Since retiring this past November, I have been giving thought how to keep myself in the chiropractic while helping doctors with the experience I acquired over the years and make it cost effective for everyone. So, if you read this far, benefitted over the years reading my weekly e-mails, let me propose this:

Don't be shy. If what I wrote above and have in the past made any sense and you can see a benefit from these proactive steps, let me propose this.

I am creating a marketing program for chiropractors both in the US and abroad. The program will keep me busy providing the tools necessary to promote awareness such as timely office/community e-mails, website blogs which would include healthy lifestyle with nutrition and stretching/exercise and general spinal health from cradle to grave.
