Sharing Is Caring Forward This to Your Colleagues   E-Mail Message:  Never Say Never If you subscribe to Netflix or visit a movie theater, check out the new movie and contender for an Oscar NYAD.  Diana Nyad attempted the impossible to swim non-stop from Cuba to Florida. This is an inspiring movie with the clear message that with persistence and purpose your dreams can be accomplished.
As chiropractors working with the innate ability of the body to heal while competing with the psychological and physical nuances of our patient's daily routine, a never give up attitude is crucial for some patients with chronic issues and a need to make lifestyle changes that they often resist. The same can be true for you the doctor that have every intention to create and sustain a thriving practice finding barriers along the way. Never Say Never.
For example I evaluated a new patient and during the consultation we discussed how she got in such a pickle as she was bent to the side with lumbar disc issues. Being in her fifties and overweight she gave up hope and let her lower back fester with instability until her crisis today. You know the rest
As I was explaining her problem and options, I also laid out my purpose and need for her cooperation and adherence to my treatment plan. I also made it clear that she may have let her back go from very bad to worse to her crisis today which may result in further medical intervention and possible surgery. Obviously, I hope not and with my years of experience, I am confident with her cooperation she will not. But it would be helpful if our patients also agreed to this hopeful attitude. Never say Never
https://patientmedia.com/how-far-form/ You know the drill, patients begin a gym membership, a diet, a desire to relax more so they start enthusiastic and cannot foresee slipping and sliding but, with time, they do and back to square one they go. We too slip and slide and the enthusiasm we take from weekend seminars or discussions with colleagues, will start, will sputter and will stop. If this has been your experience, you must draw a line in the sand and get your act together, ask for guidance and agree to say:   Never say Never
Doctor, doctoring 101 is simple, tell your patients the truth, they desire no less. Don't x-ray their wallet to get as much as you can. Don't cookie cut their reality use every visible and verbal means to let them understand what you know, what they need to know and why. Don't let them leave within the first few visits without being assured they understand and will follow your lead, comply with office rules and most important share their new understanding of chiropractic/health and wellness with others. Never say Never
You may be reading this and saying I'm delusional as most of your  patients do not fall under these lofty goals but that reality is what you created.  There are doctors reading this who probably did not win the most likely to succeed award while in school but today are living the life because they mastered the world of communications and have no problem speaking from the gut, heart and brain. They tell it like it is and have trained their staff to do the same within the bubble of reality they created. They live in the world of Never say Never
So,  I conclude today with a challenge. If you have been in touch with fellow chiropractors you graduated with or went to eclectic seminars or just know the docs that have "made it" give thought to why. There is no magic, they took the words from the guru instructors and implemented it either to the tee or spun it to their way of success. They shared their knowledge with patients and with no stops substantially increased their income and their patients Health and Wellness. They also set goals and stuck with it. There are no limits just the limitation you create.
