Planning To Get New Patients

So much work goes into a successful business. Goals are discussed, action steps are considered and procedures are put in place. These are all under the umbrella of planning. If there is one component that is universal for either success or failure it is on either side of planning. Too much abundance or too little drought.

Graduating chiropractic students have usually loads of debt and a wide world before them with no road map, no idea for their next step, just a head full of knowledge and a racehorse ready to bolt. They, as well as established doctors have to plan their next step and flourish.  Planning is the key to get new patients.

Since everyone has a spine there should be no shortage of patients and planning to get them and be compensated is as important. In previous e-mails, I wrote about marketing and public relations and the plan was to reach out and network with patients, allied healthcare providers, attorneys, sport venues, local office parks, warehouses and any venue that has activity to acquire new patients. Yes, it takes time and someone dedicated to the task would be best to increase patient volume, a community liaison or marketing person.

If you do plan to succeed and find that money, time and staff are limited then usually the outcome will be as well. Money may be tight to market but if your office is the income generator your future depends on it. Investing in the stock market is often risky but wise investing in your business may pay dividends. Patient volume takes work and at times money to acquire them. Therefore, hiring someone, or giving a bonus to a staff member that can multitask and generate patients may be well worth it. The best investment is in you.

You can call it lack of vision or focus, doesn’t matter, the outcomes will be the same. Luck will prevail and you’ll get by or luck has noting to do with it and may fail. Either way, no plan no dice, no plan no way, no plan and you’ll be spending money foolishly and paying a harsh price down the road when you have to gather proper data and reinvent the experience to make it right.

So, if you intend to jumpstart promotions begin by establishing a plan, be creative and mark a territory to promote your practice. Create a database of local PI attorney’s, PCPs, health professionals that may work with you and begin the campaign to reach out. Start with e-mails, snail mail introductory letters introducing yourself and what your office offers. If covid has past your community good-bye, establish a health fair within your community, participate in a community screening or begin offering workshops to your civic and corporate neighbors with both health and wellness topics and ergonomic awareness, then get busy.
