Demographic Component .. Clerical

Recent e-mails concerned the four components of demographics where you can hunt for potential patients: Residential, Retail, Labor and Clerical.  Today, I will discuss clerical and next week retail. When I was in active practice, the most successful component for new patients was clerical.

My first program (workshop) was with AT&T. I asked a patient where she worked and she mentioned AT&T which was located within a huge building less than two miles from my office. I asked her if they provided ergonomic or safety/wellness classes and she said no. I asked if she can ask when she returns to work and during her next appointment, she gave me the name and phone number of her supervisor. I called and he invited me to present a class to 300 of his employees over a few weeks. He also asked if I could evaluate their workstations and offered a room for his employee physical evaluations. NO EXAGGERATION, I almost tripled my practice within a few weeks just from this one event. After a few weeks, I was invited to return monthly.

This success was repeated over 75 times including labor (material handling) workshops, as well as senior classes in local churches, participating in health fairs, nutritional programs, postural screenings and numerous clerical classes as well as new patient in-office workshops. It took time to create but once established it is just a matter of scheduling.

Clerical workshops are your best bet. Statistically, women are more aware of their health than men and more proactive concerning their wellness. I found that my clerical workshops/classes were bringing in more new patients and with their education, they referred in family, friends and co-workers.

Similar to last week's e-mail concerning labor/material handlers, provide questionnaires prior to the class asking if they would benefit from a complimentary spinal evaluation, be sure to send timely e-mails to them and prior to leaving schedule another class with the person that invited you and it is on-going from there.

Clerical employees sit most of their day, do repetitive physical activities and usually have poor ergonomic workstations and suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome, neck and lower back pain as well as chronic headaches. If your advice makes sense and have the chiropractic solution, they will follow your lead and new patients galore. Take a few days to accumulate data to make you the expert and either present it knee to knee with clerical patients or during a workshop using handouts or a Powerpoint presentation. This might be beyond your comfort zone, so ask a staff member to do them or hire a PR person, it will be worth every penny

So much more I could mention but suffice to say there is no more room here. If you have any questions, reply to me at: joel3639@aol.com

If interested, I have a great Staying Fit While You Sit Powerpoint presentation. Even if not used for a workshop, there is tons of information. Just $60 for me to download it for you and you are ready to edit at will.
