The Small Things   I am sure many of you are doing the smaller practice things to create a larger office presence including a stream of new patients, networking possibilities and just all around good will. Although there are plenty of potential patients within every community the trick is to generate interest in your office either by word of mouth, community activities or using the best of social media. I always ask new patients how they heard of our office and the best response is by internet reviews, patient referrals or met you at a community event. In all cases, a perfect impression was established and when the person needed our attention we were there to serve. So, let’s start with a few small things.   Collecting patient data: If you have not already, begin asking every patient for their e-mail address and phone number that you place somewhere within your note taking program. Keeping this information handy is an easy way to communicate with the patient. During a patient visit, I may discuss a specific exercise, specific nutritional advice or point out general spinal hygiene or structure and later in the day send them an e-mail with a specific link to our webpage or the internet and/or advice that reinforced the discussion we had earlier. This extra touch of concern and patient management goes a long way towards their referrals and sharing your best practice intentions.   Timely e-newsletters:  Collecting every patient e-mail address is crucial in our social media world. I send a Welcome to Chiropractic e-mail to all new patients as well as a weekly e-newsletter to my community and patients totaling over 2000 people per week. This e-mail besides having my office message also includes healthy links to stretches, nutritional recipes and general healthy advice. It keeps my office fresh in their mind and when the time comes for a referral, they often forward it along to others.   Where Have They Been: Having patient e-mail addresses as well as their picture within your note taking program also offers you a quick reference to everyone. During this pandemic, many patients were reluctant to venture out and especially with crowds. Things are loosening up but a number of patients may have missed their timely or maintenance visits. The fact that their profile is handy within your computer allows you to quickly reach out to them with a generic e-mail of your concern, what you are doing to make your office safe and the importance in these troubled times that they care for their spine. Time to reactivate them and again it shows concern and how your office stands out.   These are a few simple things that you should consider if you haven’t already   If you do other simple things, reply back with them and I will share them     Have a Great Day Joel E.
