Here in Atlanta, we were rudely reminded that weather can be severe when we had an ice storm that stopped life on highways and roads. If you were involved in the January 28, 2014 ice storm, you probably have a number of tales to tell friends, family, children orgrandchildren. One thing everyone should learn from this is to prepare and that is the theme of this week’s e-mail. Besides getting your home and pipes ready for colder weather, be sure you create a kit to place within the trunk of your car as you never know when it will be needed. Pack an older or cheap suitcase or a plastic bag with a throwaway sweater, jacket, blanket, power bars, water bottles, a flashlight with extra batteries, an external power charger for your cell phone (be sure they are always charged) a few snacks and whatever you think you may need if you were stuck somewhere. Also, in the worse scenario have handy your emergency contact numbers, including your physicians and medications. Be creative. Be prepared around the house with flashlights, extra batteries, extra blankets and jackets, sterno stoves with extra sterno cans to name a few. Remember, if you cannot find it, you don't have it. Collect the items, place them in a container and be sure you know where they are placed Below are some tips. Be PreparedClick On Words Below For More Information A Check List For Older Adults Winter Safety 1 Winter Safety 2 2025 Farmer’s Almanac Forecast Winter Temperatures  Prepare a Winter Garden Prepare Your Lawn For Winter Prepare For Winter 1 Prepare for Winter Emergencies 1 Prepare for Winter Emergencies 2 Prepare and Safety for Your Vehicle 1 Prepare and Safety for Your Vehicle 2 Prepare and Safety for Your Vehicle 3 How To Drive In a Skid How To Drive In a Skid 2 Winterize Your Home 1 Winterize Your Home 2 Winter Pet Safety 1 Winter Pet Safety 2              |
