E-mail message this week .. Cause and Effect

As deductive scientists, chiropractors appreciate the role of the whole rather than the hole created by the missing or dysfunctional parts. Medical inductive folks specialize in the specific parts attempting to create holeness from wholeness. In practice terms, if you need to restructure a practice while adapting to lost revenue due to various patient holes such as the pandemic creating corporate downsizing and laid off patients, conservative patient spending due to their volatile financial future, you best review the entirety of your practice as a whole rather than tackling its various parts.

A practice, like a body has many working parts. The heart and brain of your practice is you, the doctor (here may lie the root of all problems or the reason for blissful success), the extremities are both staff and patients and the visceral parts all coordinated and controlled by you, are the components such as reception, insurance, therapy, marketing, etc.

Yes, we need to tackle an area if erosion of performance becomes a trend. But don’t miss the cause and effect, a heartbeat away from straining and a mind away from spraining the essence of your practice, which is control. Circumstances may erode your bank account but reaching back to basics will begin to control the wear and tear and naturally replenish and renew.

Doctor, consider the cause and effect of a new patient whether from a marketing promotion, a patient referral or walk in.  If you didn’t control the conversation correctly from the start, the effect may be a miss or hit successful patient exchange. Besides a new patient statistic, the longevity and referral quotient from this new patient rests with the value you placed on their need and your service. Patients dropping out, not following their treatment schedules, not referring and not getting results that you know they can is due to one simple reason, value. They had little respect for your valuable service from day one. Everyone is service oriented weighing the value of a service on whether time and money is spent reaching their intended goal. The knowledge they acquire about reaching their wellness goal is provided by the mind and heart of the office body, YOU, along with a smooth transition of product performance by the individual parts, Your Staff. This is cause and effect. Less drop out and more referrals if a strong value was provided from the start.

If you sense a dip in patient numbers, end of day revenues or growth patterns due to circumstances out of your control, think again. Control and coordination of the body rests with the nervous system and you are the pulse and brains of your office. Panic less but restructure and consolidate more by implementing the basics of patient and practice management. Tighten up history taking by relating to spinal cause and effect. Tighten up your report of findings by outlining a plan of action, purpose of following their specific schedule, their daily action steps at home, work and socially, outcome assessments and repercussions if they fail to cooperate, in other words establish a clear value to your skills and their need. Be creative without jeopardizing respect for your time and skills, with financial plans allowing those with legitimate hardship to be cared for with the understanding that their responsibility is to share the chiropractic story with others, this will establish a strong cause and effect.

Doctor, you are the cause and effect of your practice.

Periodic restructuring is part of it.

Have A Great Day
