Reaching Your Chiropractic Goals

A new chiropractic quarter began this week at Life University, College of Chiropractic, Marietta. My daughter's nephew, Jacob, and about 99 other new students began their journey towards their DC degree and being an integral part of the healthcare community and an honored member of our profession. This will be my sixth student recommendation to Life and all those that took my advice are doing quite well. When was the last time, if ever, you referred a prospective student to your alma mater?  More important, when was the last time you asked a patient for a referral. Want to reach your professional goals, it starts here.

My first adjustment was in 1972 under the gifted of recently minted chiropractor David Singer, in New Jersey. He was enthusiastic, energetic and dedicated to chiropractic. His professional goals were met with his gift to spread the chiropractic message and extend it throughout his community.

He was a genius at marketing and paved his way throughout the community with public speaking, creating alliances with local vendors, Mom and Pop shops and requesting and receiving multiple referrals exponentially increasing his patient volume. Over the years he reached out to the chiropractic community establishing Singer Enterprises, his consulting services and seminars helping thousands of chiropractors reach their professional goals as well, amongst them me.

I like others handed our health and wellness to allopathic doctors who tried but never reached the cause of our wellness issues. What sold me on chiropractic was the presentation he requested I view before he even examined me. It was truly creative.

On a desk was a small screen and a slide projector. He asked me to use the remote clicker to change slides after hearing the sound of a pen on a glass. As I changed slides, children's voices narrated his script that introduced me to the spine, my body, the nervous system and the simple truth that the body heals itself once neurological interference (subluxation) was removed.

The one slide that made the most sense was a lateral view of the spine and the nerves reaching the digestive area, the celiac plexus. This made more sense to me than the years and money spent on medical care.

To reach my chiropractic goals and a happy semi-retirement, I owe my success to him and well as others such as Drs. Reggie Gold at Sherman, Sid Williams at Life and Pete Fernandez who trusted me with his chiropractic consulting clients allowing me to teach at his seminars. I was fortunate to have creative and visionary mentors that paved the way for me. Hope you clicked on their links above for some great videos

As mentioned above, Sharing is Caring, so be a mentor to your colleagues our strength is in our numbers. You may consider the chiropractor across the street, around the corner or somewhere in your town competition, but there is never competition, too many folks out there never heard about chiropractic, have a misconception of what we do and for sure never been adjusted. Open your eyes, look around and get busy telling the chiropractic story. There are enough spines to go around.

To reach your goals, create your brand. What type of chiropractor do you want your community to perceive you. A family chiropractic office, a nutritional and rehabilitative clinic, a biomechanical facility, a place for wellness and harmony or all the above.

Take a moment and see what comes to mind if you were asked to describe your office. Is your staff on board and can they tell the chiropractic story and support your goals. Is your office referral based and do you have educational programs whether knee to knee of timely workshops. Doctor you are a healer, educator and mentor to so many but many more await your skillful hands. Never too late to create your chiropractic goals

By The Way: Health and Wellness also require accountability. As Chiropractors we manage structural stress and often assist with adjunctive programs including nutrition, rehabilitation and often act as a bartender or taxi driver helping with a personal and/or emotional crisis that tag along. I have found that a referral to a Health Coach has helped many patients attempting to change their life around with weight, chronic health issues etc. We can do so much in the office but a patient needing hand holding and guidance will benefit greatly from a coach. I recommend this link for a compassionate, empathetic and knowledgeable Health Coach for you, your family, patients and friends.  Sessions are remote so you and your patients worldwide can benefit. Click here for a free 15 minute consultation. The feedback I am receiving from patients and doctors taking advantage of this is outstanding.
