E-mail message this week .. State of the Profession

I am involved in my own world of chiropractic through these e-mails and my worldwide contacts and have a glimpse of what others have to say and are doing. So without fanfare, I declare the state of our profession as strong.

When I graduated in 1978, eons ago, the word chiropractic had already emerged and we were on a roll. Insurance paid better as there was little to no managed care. Fees were less but so were costs. Supportive diagnostic and rehabilitative devices, compared to today, were in their infancy but they quickly took hold providing reality for doctors to answer patients questions of what’s their problem, why they have it and what can they do. The divide between the medical and chiropractic world was still strong but loosened with a mutual enemy, managed healthcare. Personal Injury was more lucrative. Many aggressive doctors studied and learned the PI trade assisting their patients and their attorneys towards profit and gain. Then was then and now is now, so how do we stack up today.

In every issue of our trade publications, you’ll find a number of vendors selling better treatment tables and tools, sophisticated diagnostic and treatment instruments, including lasers, thumpers, detoxification and nutritional protocols and even esthetic programs to bring in the vain. There are some creative doctors that reach out to their community with boutique style practices making every office space ethereal and even sharing space and patients with medical professionals. The level of community and corporate stress has risen, especially with the covid pandemic and employee discord with potential layoffs and downsizing. Stress is a buzzword as never before and the creative chiropractor can tap into this arena by offering specific ergonomic and physical advice.

With this being said are you being creative enough to tap into these concerns or are you on the sidelines realizing a decade from now that you missed the boat? Are you actively creating educational material for your patients whether via newsletters, e-mails and getting ready to offer in-office classes or zoom for them and their friends? Are you directing them to your webpage, do you even have one, active with social media with a current running Facebook page, Youtube presentations, etc. The limit is your imagination.

Your patients and community are thirsting for conservative advice as emotional stress results in physical and physiological stress all resulting from neurological stress .. the subluxation. Doctor, be a beacon within your community, have an open heart and office policy providing the sound answers to their concerns as they weather the storm call covid-19. Reach out to your patients, expect referrals and see how the practice grows

Doctor, if you gave a State of Your Office today, what would you say

Have A Great Day
