 Helping Your Patients and Yourself
For the past several months, I’ve shared my thoughts about the benefits of health coaching. It’s been exciting to see health coaching gaining traction in everyday healthcare as more and more providers are seeing its value in helping patients thrive, not just survive. This week, I’m turning it over to Leah, certified health coach, to introduce herself in her own words.
Hi! I’m Leah, a certified health coach. As a health coach, I guide people in translating what they already know about wellness into lasting, practical habits.  If there’s one thing I’ve seen over and over in my work, it's this: people genuinely want to feel better, and more often than not, they already know what will help them get there. But turning that knowledge into healthy habits that stick can be seriously tough without the right support. Sometimes, having someone walk alongside you, with encouragement, accountability, reminders of how far you’ve come, can make all the difference.
Another thing I’ve learned is that our genes don’t tell the whole story. While we may be predisposed to certain health conditions, they’re not inevitable! We have far more agency than we realize. Our daily choices (how we eat, move, sleep, and manage stress), can influence our long-term health in so many powerful ways.  And that’s what I love so much about coaching. It's not prescriptive, it’s empowering. It puts control back where it belongs, helping people take steps toward the life and health they want. Clients I’ve worked with have:
Improved management of a chronic condition with doctor guidanceStarted exercising regularly for the first time in yearsEnjoyed nourishing whole foods while cutting back on processed foods Become more mindful about what and how they eatLearned to overcome intense food cravings Improved their sleep routines Incorporated meditation or breathwork to better manage stress

I’m certified by the Wellcoaches School of Coaching and hold a Lifestyle Medicine certificate from the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. I work with my clients remotely, with an approach that is non-judgmental and compassionate using science-backed tools from positive psychology, motivational interviewing, and SMART goal setting. If you or someone in your community could use some extra support feeling stronger, more energized, and more in control of their health, I’d love to be a resource! If you’re interested in learning more, I’d be happy to have a conversation to share more about my work. You can reach me at leahgwellness@gmail.com or visitleahgwellness.com to learn more.   |
