We live in turbulent times, 2020, a year of hell. Considering that prior to a worldwide pandemic the overall economy was rolling along where an energetic and creative doctor was able to expand their practice as they wished. But, in a blink of an eye many had to or were forced to shutter their doors waiting for the all clear signal. It took a while between grim statistical news, grimmer economic heartaches and a literal fear that the sky was falling with the all clear signal fuzzy at best and some still waiting. To make matters worse societal relations became hectic and cloudy and may sour even more. So, how did you cope?

Being an optimist, I saw opportunities where other feared to tread. As the stock market dived, I bought rather than sold and took advantage. As others sheltered in place and ferried the thought of wo is me, I planned my return keeping in touch with patients and networked my contacts anticipating a return with the same bounty as before. After a two month pause, I reopened strong even with a vast alteration from normal. I also sent a clear e-mail message to my patients and within the Facebook pages of my community my thoughts about Diversity. So, how did you cope?

Doctor, the message for many was to carry on with conviction, practical practice management and they thrived during these trying times. For others, the journey back is still a struggle.  It is easy to write without walking in another’s shoes and with their concerns and easily pass off advice. But, business is business whether as a doctor or carpenter and serious business people tweak their protocols moving things here and there to make it happen. This pandemic will pass and while you figure it out remember that every vehicle passing by your office has folks struggling with stress, structural and neurological irritation and concerned with their health and wellness. The game is to reach them. Money may be tight, budgets sliced and thinking of expansion way beyond reality but doctor, there is no other way. Dig deep within and remember why you became a chiropractor, a healer, a member of our cherished community and then decide how best to reboot or keep on keeping on.
